AVM Productions
AVM is
the oldest and largest film production studio in Tamil Cinema
Industry. It is currently owned by M. Saravanan and his son, M. S. Guhan. The most recent film they have produced since their
opening with Naam Iruvar in 1947, is Vettaikkaaran. The filming studios are located in Vadapalani, Chennai.
In 1940, Meiyappan produced Bhoo Kailas, a mythological which created history. The film was
made in Telugu, its lead players were from Telugu cinema and it was directed by
Sundar Rao Nadkarni, a Mangalorean who had his training in Bombay. The film
turned out to be a big hit and also won critical acclaim! Meiyappan struck gold

Ayngaran International
Ayngaran International is
an overseas film distributing and producing company of Tamil language films. The company distributes Tamil films to countries other than India. They also change the Indian regional DVDs into North American and European format. Since
the company started, they distributed audio in audio cassettes and CDs, and videos in VHS. In 2001 they began to distribute DVDs and later
ceased VHS distribution. They provide subtitles in English and a variety of other languages on each DVD
film. In 2006, French and German languages were added to subtitle selections to a
few films.
Bharatbala Productions
BharatBala Productions (BBP) is a film productions house with offices in Mumbai and Chennai. The company’s activities span feature films, television commercials, documentaries, and music videos. The company is led by filmmakers Bharatbala and Kanika Myer. BBP is noteworthy for its production caliber and unique treatment of subject matter, which have won it a host of awards, locally and internationally.
After making more than 500 TV commercials for both Indian and International brands in last 15 years, BBP expanded its scope of activities to include feature films and other projects driven by in house developed concepts. Central Studios
Central Studios was a motion picture movie studio in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India started by B.R.Naidu and other prominent industrialists like Swamikannu Vincent of Coimbatore in 1935 to make Tamil Nadu and other South Indian lauguage movies.The Studio was a major hub of Tamil Movie production with many later day Superstar starting and spending their early days in this Studio.
The Studio had almost all modern facilities and technical workshops.The Studio is located in Uppilipalayam,Singanallur ,Trichy Road which is today a part of the city.The Studio management later passed on the Lakshmi Mills family who closed it in 1955 as Chennai emerged as a Movie hub and also to keep movie industry out of Coimbatore,as it was fast emerging as a major Industrial and Educational hub.
Gemini Studios
Gemini Studios was launched when Thiruthuraipoondi Subramanian Srinivasan (1903-1969) bought a film distribution concern at an auction and renamed it as Gemini Pictures also known as Gemini Studios. Gemini Studios served as a breeding ground for innumerable artists and technicians for the south Indian Film Industry. The Gemini twins became a household symbol and the Gemini flyover was named after the original studio at that junction.
Kavithalaya Productions
Kavithalayaa Productions is
a Tamil cinema film production company and film
distribution company founded by film director, screenwriter and producer K. Balachander. Located in Kodambakkam, Tamil Nadu, it has
released several acclaimed Tamil languagefeatures of the Chennai film Industry,
including Sindhu Bhairavi, Mani Ratnam's Roja and K. S. Ravikumar's commercially successful film Muthu. Balachander's children R. Balachander and Pushpa Kadaswamy also produce
for the banner.
Leukos Films
Leukos Films is a
production company launched in September 2007 by Indian actor, Madhavan. Its first release
was Evano Oruvan, which was released commercially in December 2007. Despite having a below average opening the film became an
average grosser due to glowing reviews and positive word of mouth. Leukos Films have organised sponsored international
premieres for Evano Oruvan across
the globe. The lead stars, Madhavan, Sangeetha and Seeman
will be present at all venues and will also have a “Meet & Greet” with
winners of contests in every city. Top celebrities, press and the elite will be
invited for the premieres and they will voice their views on the film. The
premieres in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto will be on 26, 27 and 28
October respectively. It will be for the first time that an Indian film will
have such big premieres across the globe before its theatrical release. Evano Oruvan,
will be also premiered from Nov 6 to 12 in UAE and Nov 22 to 24 in Singapore and Malaysia.
Madras Talkies
Madras Talkies is an established Film and Television Production and Distribution Company in India setup in 1995 with Mani Ratnam and Suhasini Maniratnam as partners. Madras Talkies is actively involved in production of films and television serials, which are distributed all over the world. The company has produced over 9 feature films and 6 television serials till date. Ratnam served as a producer on several films before setting up the banner in 1997. The company is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.Sun Pictures
Sun Pictures is a Tamil film production and distribution company from the Sun TV Network of Chennai. It is owned
by Kalanithi Maran, and was
set up in 2008.It plans to produce at least
10 feature films each in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Kannada annually
through Sun Pictures. Sun TV Network has signed up with all leading players,
including stars, directors and music directors in the Tamil film industry.The
move to directly get into film production is a natural extension for Sun, which
has acquired almost 80 per cent of all the movies in the southern regional
markets for well over a decade.The biggest blockbuster that they have
distributed is Ayan. The production company has
good marketing techniques and most of the films released so far were hits.
